I didn't boycott that store entirely, even after the insolence of the bag boy. I was pushing my cart through the aisles of that store a couple of weeks later. As I approached the end of an aisle, a very pretty very young mom told her son "Watch out, there's a girl coming!" I smiled the smile of a woman who feels five years younger. Bless that pretty mom's heart. She's probably a MaryKay consultant. I should've asked her for a catalog.
Age, they say, is just a number. I'd like to point out that there are a few other things that can be numbered. Lines near one's eyes and shimmering hairs, for example.
But I can also count SEVEN years younger. That is how much younger my last three dates have been. Fabulous. Even if I weren't attracted to younger men, it would be rather flattering. Just as I was on the verge of getting a tight perm...

thanks for calling them shimmery hairs.
Hey, young lady, I cannot to call you "ma'am". I keep seeing you in my mind as about 3-4, climbing trees and touching mice... "They are so soft!" My little girl is adventurous!

By the way, if I read this blog long enough, the music comes up with The Lion Sleeps Tonight. That was our Missionary Theme Song when Elder Gunther and I were working Neustadt/Bad Nauheim. We played it every morning before tracting. It might not have been the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but it was a good way to start the day. Thanks - Dad
